Although the bloodhound mystery series that Kat is crafting is a total work of fiction, the bloodhound Jammer in the book is loosely based on Kat's three bloodhounds: A.J. (1991-2004), Chase (1994-2008), and her current K9 pet detective, Zeke. The name "Jammer" is a dog name that Kat heard many years ago and fell in love with. Kat's very first bloodhound was named Jammer but he died in a tragic accident a few months after Kat adopted him. She named her next hound A.J. for "After Jammer." Kat selected the name "Jammer" for the bloodhound character in this book as a way of honoring the four bloodhounds she has loved and trained in her lifetime.
